Year of the Reef 97

Bella Selling Price: MYR 15 (inclusive shipping)

Year 1997 has been declared as the International Year of the Reef (IYOR). This acts as a response to the growing threats to coral reefs around the world.

Malaysia is considered a maritime country as it has more than 4,600 km of coastline and bordering 4 major large bodies of water which are Straits of Malacca, South China Sea, Sulu Sea and Sulawesi Sea. This country has more sea area than land territory under its control. Considering Malaysia's seas lie within one of the most biodiverse area of the world, marine conservation and sustainable management of marine resources are very critical.

In conjunction to IYOR, Pos Malaysia has released a set of 4 stamps with denominations of 20 cents, 30 cents, 50 cents, and MYR 1 that comes in the form of this nice and informative presentation pack.
